John Currin (born 1962) is an American painter living in New York. His work draws upon a broad range of cultural influences that include Renaissance oil paintings, 1950s women’s magazine advertisements, and contemporary fashion models. He often distorts or exaggerates the erotic forms of the female body. He has been featured in more than 20 solo exhibitions, including “John Currin,” a paintings exhibition organized in 2003 by the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago.
