Allison Sommers

Allison Sommers is a visual artist working and living in Charlottesville, Virginia. Working mostly in gouache, she creates complicated and intricate worlds with a sharp wit and a penchant for nonsensical combinations. She graduated from the University of Virginia with a BA in History.
In a larger sense, Sommers’ artwork seeks to culminate at the point where seriousness gives way to ambiguity. Her artwork is fascinating, enigmatic, and visually befuddling, illustrating a vivid binary of gravity and frivolity. All paintings in gouache tell their own unique stories.
